Funny Little Thing, Politics

In what can only be described as Cindy Sheehan's nonexistant fan base redux, a bit of, shall we say, 'liberal' licence has been taken to make an Obama rally appear better attended.

Mary Katharine Ham at Townhall.com made this entry about Obama's recent rally in North Carolina, highlighting how it's all in the presentation. Even though the crowd was anything but impressive, the published shots left you with the impression that the rally was a packed affair.

If you want to have your blood pressure skyrocket, Michelle Malkin recently did a piece on illegal immigration's impact on the housing crisis. When the housing crunch first started rearing its ugly head and WaMu was one of those hit hard, we wondered whether the pandering to illegals had anything to do with it. In characteristic media style, this elephant in the room was never even BROACHED by the MSM. Michelle, without fail, roots these things out and shows them the light of day. If only people and politicians would listen and care instead of looking for ways to secure another term, regardless of the cost to America. My hat is office to Michelle, regardless!

If you wonder why I've been slow in posting lately, politics disgust me. Really. With moderates and the press picking a GOP candidate for us that can at best be described as 'Democrat Lite' and said candidates willful displays of unabashed populism (such as his global warming speech), it's easy to get distracted by other things that at another time, perhaps wouldn't seem so pressing.

I applied and registered for classes recently and discovered one - Biology - will have to wait for my registration appointment in two weeks. We're getting ready to see Mr. Man's brother Friday, who is doing better but not as well as we'd like, and we're getting some work done on the house. All important things to be sure, but we've tarried over the wine we've yet to bottle, tasting and experimenting with blends, transplanted tomato seedlings and set up grow light in our greenhouse and I've even done a little oil painting. All things that are not vital, but definitely a nice distraction from the train wreck I think we are headed towards.

I survived 8 years of Clinton, but the turn things have taken in the past year or so- the real liberalness of the Republican party, how easily voter's wishes have been ignored, threats to the Initiative system in our state, higher property taxes, the hysterical calls for socialised medicine, the banning of the incandescent lightbulb in 2010 - really leave me disturbed. I go to bed at night worried and wake up still worried, my busy mind enlisting the aid of my subconscious to evaluate things even in slumber. Many times there is a bright light you can cling to, or even a hint of one, but with liberal, more liberal and liberalist are running for the top post, the GOP still is not admitting its drunken spending spree and the rest of the world in a state of unrest - Iran, Lebanon - I want to find the silver lining but I'm having a hard time. How do we get out of this mess?
